The Uzbek-Korean forum on cooperation in the field of improvement of the system of public administration and the introduction of electronic government has taken place in the capital of Uzbekistan.
The status of the event was defined by the participants – officials of the government and management bodies of the two countries. The forum was opened by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Finance Rustam Azimov and Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Elyor Ganiev. On the Korean side, the Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Hon Yun-Sik. They noted the level of strategic partnership and mutually advantageous cooperation, which is developing in all spheres.
An important point of bilateral relations is the introduction of high technologies in various industries. With the participation of specialists and business circles of the Republic of Korea, modern technologies, know-how are being introduced in our country’s economy and governance system, advanced projects are being implemented. The choice of the partner country is hardly accidental. South Korea is one of the world leaders in the field of ICT. The share of information and communications technologies in its gross domestic product exceeds 11.8%.
Today, effective cooperation is established between the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of the Republic of Korea. The Ministry hosts a center for the advancement electronic government system that performs an important function in the formation of the national IT system. Korean specialists have been assisting in its development, as well as in training and retraining the personnel. Underway is mutual exchange of experience, producing effective results.
The Uzbek side presented information for participants of the forum on the course of the implementation of the system of electronic government and further improving the system of public administration, ICT development, enhancing international cooperation on this front. Experts praised the work carried out in Uzbekistan on the use of modern ICT in the life of state and society, the development of technologies and infrastructures, training and retraining of specialists. In particular, Minister Hong Yun-Sik, said that he is “glad that Uzbekistan pays special attention to the training and retraining of personnel in the field of public administration based on the best practices of Korea. Today’s meeting has provided an opportunity once again to discuss the prospects of bilateral cooperation, exchange views and expertise. In particular, we talked about the exchange of electronic documents and information, storage, digitization of archival documents, introduction of know-how. Taking this opportunity, I congratulate the people of Uzbekistan on the upcoming 25th anniversary of state independence.”
