Alisher Shadmanov attends the World Health Assembly

These days, the 72nd session of the World Health Assembly is being held in Geneva. It is attended by almost 3000 delegates from 190 countries, incliding about 150 ministers of health, as well as representatives of leading international organizations and foundations.

The World Health Assembly is the highest authority of the World Health Organization, which involves delegations from all member countries.

The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Alisher Shadmanov has been elected Vice-President of the World Health Organization for Europe. Speaking at the session, he noted that the issue of universal access to services for all citizens is at the highest political level in Uzbekistan, over the past three years, more than 150 normative-legal acts have been adopted in healthcare system, which indicates the great attention paid to development of the sphere by government and personally by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. As a result, a number of decisions have been taken to improve primary healthcare, emergency and specialized healthcare systems. In addition, Uzbekistan has made significant progress in transplantation, cardiac surgery, immunoprophylaxis, development of private medical sector, as well as improvement of psychiatric, phthisiological, endocrinological care, support for a healthy lifestyle and physical activity.

The adoption and implementation of the Concept of Development of Uzbekistan’s Healthcare System for 2019-2025, within the framework of which it is expected to radically reform Uzbekistan’s healthcare system, attracted the session participants.
