In Azerbaijan information-analytical portal Trend published an article on the outcome of the fight against the use of Uzbek and distribution of drugs.
In particular, the article emphasizes that the country is an active and uncompromising policy to counter this scourge.
Azerbaijan, the publication noted that the information on the measures taken in Uzbekistan circulated as an official document of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly.
"In 1994, it established the State Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Drug Control - an inter-agency body responsible for developing and ensuring the implementation of state policy and strategy in the field of drug control. In 1999 adopted the Law "On Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances", which is an efficient and effective legal mechanism for drug control in the country ", - Trend informs.
At the same time, currently "Program of comprehensive measures to combat drug abuse and trafficking in 2011-2015" is being implemented. The program provides measures to further strengthen the material-technical and human capacities of law enforcement agencies, the modernization and development of the drug treatment service, enhance international cooperation in combating drug trafficking, conducting targeted prevention of drug addiction.
The article also emphasizes that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to the implementation of commitments to the international community to combat illicit drug trafficking. "Proof of this is the campaign to destroy a large consignment of drugs seized in the fight against drug trafficking, which held annually in Tashkent. At the end of June 2015 at a factory in Sergeli district of Tashkent 1.4 tons of drugs was burned. It was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in the republic", - the newspaper notes.
