CYBER SECURITY: REQUIREMENT OF TIMES

A seminar on security in cyber space has been organized in Tashkent by the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies with support from the embassies of the United States and Germany in Uzbekistan. International experts analyzed the best practices in this area.

Information technologies permeate all levels of society and begin to influence bоth public affairs and the life of every citizen. It is logical that the issue of ensuring the improvement of the cyber security system has actualized, that is, the coordination of actions of state bodies with corresponding agencies to secure common goals and ways to address these tasks.

In recent years, the cyber sphere has turned into a space for warfare, something that is one of the major threats to the national security of any country, and thus requires that it secure its information space.

The workshop was the third event of the George C. Marshall European Center, and the first had been held in 2015. The seminar was attended by international experts from Azerbaijan, Germany, Portugal, Poland, Ukraine and the United States. The purpose sought from the meeting with 20 representatives of government bodies to ensure the cyber security of Uzbekistan was better understanding of strategies, experiences, best practices and comprehensive approach to national security in the cyber space. Experts who arrived in Tashkent were part of a concerted action for the implementation of policies through the provision of assistance to other countries. Using their knowledge, they need to promote the norms of international security and of the fight against cyber crime.

The agenda of the seminar was discussed interactively. The two-day workshop provided with an opportunity for foreign experts to present their works. They shared their expertise designed to consolidate public administration and communications policy as well as the protection of internet infrastructure against cyber threats.
