DAY OF WORKERS OF RAILWAY TRANSPORT

Railways are the main transport artery, connecting cities and countries. Today it is one of the most available and used forms of transport, bоth for passengers and for cargo transportation. Undoubtedly, the effective work of railway transport is ensured thanks to the hard work and continuous work of railwaymen. Thus, in accordance with the decree of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, every first Sunday of August marks the Day of workers of railway transport. A solemn event was held to celebrate this day.

In the course of it, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov voiced the congratulatory message of the head of state.

“The construction of a single integrated system of rail transport communications has undoubtedly become the greatest historic achievement over the past period. It reliably and efficiently connects the regions of our country, provides access to international transport corridors. The highest praise is the fact that over the years our railroad constructed over 1,100 kilometers of new railways, upgraded 4 thousand kilometers of railroads are electrified 1700 kilometers of railway lines,” – a greeting of the President states.

Achilbay Ramatov, first Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “Uzbekiston Temir Yullari” and other speakers noted large-scale works underway today on electrification of railways. Recently launched electrified railway line "Angren – PAP" is a striking example. In terms of complexity this construction is ranked 8th in the world and 13th in terms of length. It is one of a kind ever built within the CIS. The uniqueness of this tunnel is that it is considered as the world’s only permanent structure, located at a depth of over 1200 meters, lying beneath stone array of hard rocks and difficult terrain.

During the event, in accordance with the presidential decree "On awarding a group of workers of railway transport of the country", the railway workers were awarded special merits.
