On April 1, 2019, the 52nd session of the United Nations Commission on Population and Development, in which a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Deputy Director of the Scientific and Practical Research Center “Oil” with Cabinet of Ministers Dilbar Alimzhanova.
The Commission, established in 1946, is a functional body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), as well as reviewing and evaluating the implementation of the Program of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), adopted in 1994. in Cairo.
The agenda of the session, which will last until April 6, includes topical issues related to the effective implementation of the ICPD Program of Action and its main activities at the national, regional and global levels, the further implementation of internationally agreed development goals, including formulated in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The session provides for the holding of general high-level debates, ministerial round tables and other meetings, during which a range of issues on population and development will be considered.
According to the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN, during the 52nd session of the Commission on Population and Development, the delegation of our republic will also be informed about the practical measures taken by the Government in the political, socio-economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as on the implementation of five priority directions of development of the republic for 2017-2021.
Following the session, it is planned to adopt a Declaration on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development.
