In the next issue of the Egyptian social and political weekly newspaper "Sawt al-Umma" (Voice of the nation) was published an article devoted to the main directions of anti-drug policy of our country in 2014.
As the newspaper states, today Uzbekistan fights with the threat of drugs via all its social, economic and political resources. As part of the monitoring of drug usage, there is more balanced approach aimed at drug demand reduction and prevention of its illicit trafficking.
The article emphasizes that in the framework of comprehensive measures to combat drug abuse and trafficking in 2011-2015 in the country was implemented measures to further strengthen the material-technical and human capacities of law enforcement agencies, the modernization and development of the drug treatment service, enhancing international cooperation countering drug trafficking, conducting targeted prevention of drug addiction.
Special attention is given to adopted measures to combat drug trafficking in Uzbekistan. It is noted that as a result of targeted measures to detect and prevent drug trafficking channels and complex operations to combat drug trafficking in 2014, the law enforcement bodies of the republic revealed 6698 facts of drug-related crimes, seized illicit trafficking of 2 tons 298 kg of narcotics.
Egyptian newspaper introduces its readers with the achievements of our country in the formation of negative public attitudes towards drug abuse, promoting healthy lifestyles, and improve the availability and quality of medical drug treatment. It is emphasized that the number of drug addicts who are on dispensary, was reduced by 1353 comparing with 2013 and amounted 14692, the number of drug addicts, who inject drugs, also decreased and amounted 5110, or 34.8% of the total number of registered persons.
