EMBODIMENT OF DEMOCRACY

A press conference dedicated to bringing the content and essence to the international public of the Address of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis was held at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. It was attended by representatives of domestic and foreign mass media.

First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis S.Safoyev, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis S.Otamurodov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs S.Niyazkhodjayev and Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center A.Burkhanov emphasized that in 2017 a system of close dialogue with the population for effectively addressing their problems was established. Public receptions and the Virtual Reception of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which form the basis of this system, have justified themselves as a kind of democratic institution on dealing with citizens’ appeals.

The appeal of more than 1,5 million citizens to these reception centers and addressing problems that have been accumulated for years show that people’s power finds its practical embodiment in Uzbekistan. Increasing personal responsibility for prompt removal of mistakes and shortcomings committed by leaders at places is also an important result of involvement of the system.

Embodiment of democracy

– Completely new, effective system of dialogue with people was created based on the idea of the President of the country “People must not serve the Government bodies, rather the Government bodies must serve the people”, – says First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoyev.

From this point of view, the Address of the Head of our state to the Oliy Majlis is addressed not only to the parliament, but to the whole people. This large-scale, truly popular report has become a kind of dialogue with people.

Thus, achievements and shortcomings are objectively set out in the Address, and specific tasks to be executed are defined.

The Address testifies to the beginning of a new stage of comprehensive reforms, therefore it attracts attention not only of our people, but also of the entire world community.

Participants of the event noted that reforms differ in their focus on ensuring human interests, and their practical implementation is the task of the day. It is necessary to use the possibilities of the institution of public control, to implement much in the sphere of lawmaking, to use effective mechanisms of further reforming the most important spheres of public healthcare and crime prevention in this process. Creation of “My opinion” web portal plays an important role in revealing and solving problems concerning the population.

Increasing inflow of investments into our country plays an important role in economic development of Uzbekistan. From this point of view, the activity of embassies of our country abroad will be radically improved in the Year of supporting active entrepreneurship, innovative ideas and technologies.

At the event, information was provided on the issue related to broad discussion of the draft State Program for 2018. In a short time, about 4,5 thousand concrete opinions and proposals were received from the population. Revised draft State Program will be submitted for approval until January 20, 2018, on the basis of analysis of the results of public discussion and the received proposals.
