ENSURING ARMY'S HIGH COMBAT POTENTIAL

A press conference entitled “Social security for military servicemen in the focus of attention of the state” has taken place at the National Press Centre.

The press conference was held by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It has been noted that the provision of social security for military servicemen is an important factor in raising the army’s combat potential and the prestige of military service.

The country’s President gives special attention to issues of improving the material-technical provision and social condition of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Defence is carrying out comprehensive measures to build housing for military servicemen, to modernize existing accommodation and to construct modern cantonments and reconstruct existing ones. Specifically, in the years 2007-2015 about 6 thousand military servicemen were provided with well-furnished housing.

President Islam Karimov’s resolution dated 14 September of 2007 “On approving a statute on the procedure for providing housing to military servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan” is an important factor in improving this work.

There are plans for the yearly provision in 2016-2025 of new housing for more than 900 military servicemen.

An effective system of prophylactics and health care has been created for military servicemen in the national army. In the ministry’s system, all medical establishments – from medical stations in military units to military hospitals – are provided with modern medical equipment, and highly qualified medical personnel work there.

During the conference, representatives of the ministry answered journalists’ questions.
