Ensuring peace and stability – the guarantee of regional security

On March 24, a workshop on “Ensuring peace and stability – the guarantee of regional security” was held at the Press Center of Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan “Peace process, security cooperation and regional collaboration”.

It was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of relevant ministries and departments, scientific research centers, domestic and foreign journalists.

The Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan, organized at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, will create favorable conditions for its accession to regional socio-economic process by establishing peace in this country.

At the seminar, the importance of Tashkent Conference for establishing political diplomacy in Afghanistan, prospects for development of regional economic cooperation, increasing trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, cooperation in energy, transport, communication, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres were considered. Reports were heard on development of political, trade and economic, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries, cooperation within the framework of international organizations, current issues of the regional and international agenda.

On the same day, the Press Center hosted a meeting on socio-economic situation in Afghanistan, Uzbek-Afghan friendship, the history and fate of various ethnic groups residing in the country, including representatives of Uzbek nationality.
