Exhibition dedicated to Navruz opened in the European Parliament

On the occasion of Navruz, the European Parliament in Brussels hosted a solemn ceremony of opening of a special exhibition devoted to this holiday. The event was organized by the diplomatic mission of our country to the European Union.

The event was attended by deputies of the European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission, the Federal and regional ministries and agencies of the Kingdom of Belgium, business, community, peer and cultural circles, diplomatic missions accredited in the host country, the EU and NATO, as well as the Belgian media.

Participants were familiarized with the history and traditions of the celebration of Navruz, which anciently was a crossroads of civilizations and cultures and a rich historical and cultural heritage of the country. They were informed about the achievements of our country during the years of independence in political, socio-economic and spiritual spheres, the results of parliamentary elections which completed in December of the last year, as well as the preparation and conduct of the upcoming March 29 presidential election.

The exposition of a special exhibition dedicated to the Navruz was presented in several sections.

One of them is "Navruz - the holiday of spring, renewal, peace and ethnic harmony in Uzbekistan", introduces the tradition of celebrating this event, part of which are folk festivals and sports competitions organized during the holidays.

The ceremony participants were informed, that the Navruz begins in the mists of time and is one of the most ancient, beloved and truly national holiday, which is inextricably linked to our national traditions and customs.

In these spring days in Uzbekistan, all people do good deeds and provide selfless assistance to the sick, orphans, who need support. Raise the spirit and mood of others with a kind word. All this is clear evidence that such a noble, a truly unique quality as humanism, generosity, kindness, and charity, are the basis of the mentality of the Uzbek people, who always keep them in their heart.

The section "Strong social policy in Uzbekistan: support of youth and the care of the older generation" included photos showing the activities carried out under the ongoing annual State programmes in Uzbekistan, devoted to certain social areas. Including present works that introduce the events declared to the "Year of the attention and care for the older generation".

It was noted that in the framework of State program special attention is paid to strengthening care, providing material and moral support to older people, to deal with problems affecting the lives of older people.

Participants reported that strong social policy is currently one of the main areas carried out in Uzbekistan reforms, thanks to which in a short years of independence child and maternal mortality has decreased by three times, life expectancy of people has increased from 66 to 73.5 years.

A special part of the exhibition "Uzbekistan today" reflects the achievements of the Republic in various fields, including in industry, manufacturing, agriculture, urban construction and other industries.

Guests of the event were provided with the information about the achieved sustainable growth rate of the economy, raising the level and quality of life of the population, increasingly transforming the appearance of the Uzbek towns and villages.

Section "From a strong state to strong civil society" includes information and photographs about the ongoing in Uzbekistan democratic reforms, strengthening the role of civil society, political parties and local governments "mahalla". The participants were briefed about the conducted parliamentary elections, as well as ongoing work on the preparation and holding of presidential elections on March 29.

It was noted that parliamentary elections demonstrated the credibility and maturity of political parties, strengthening of civil institutions, the commitment of the country and people on building a democratic state, where the priority is given on ensuring the interests, rights and freedoms of the people.

At the same time, the upcoming elections of the President of Uzbekistan and the nomination for the highest office of our country candidates from all political parties is a direct result of the reforms on further democratization and liberalization of society, based on the Constitution of the country.

Organized in the European Parliament exhibition dedicated to Navruz will continue throughout the week.
