Expert groups convened here at the Republican Press Center for covering the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on November 1 for a meeting in videoconference mode to discuss issues surrounding the organization of local training seminars across the regions of the country for members of precinct election commissions.
The event was attended by members of the Central and district election commissions, parliament, scientists and experts in the field of electoral law, representatives of civil society institutions and the media.
It was noted that with its resolution on 13 October, the Central Election Commission approved an action plan designed for the efficient organization of activities of precinct election commissions set up for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. On the basis of this document, a national training seminar was held on October 20.
Training workshops are scheduled by the Central and district election commissions as well as the Independent Institute for Monitoring the Formation of Civil Society for 1-10 November in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent city, aimed to further improve the legal knowledge of members of precinct election commissions and bolster their skills for the effective organization of electoral activities.
With this in mind, the meeting participants discussed in detail the orderly conduct of regional training seminars for members of precinct election commissions.
It was noted that the purpose of seminars held with attendance by all the members of precinct election commissions is to focus on such important aspects of their activities as equipping polling stations, compiling lists of voters and introducing changes to them, arranging for early voting procedures and the election day, the significance of the institution of observers, the role of the media in securing the openness and transparency of the electoral process.
The speakers expressed their proposals and recommendations for the orderly conduct of regional training seminars in the form of free exchange of views and questions and answers.
