For the first time in the capital of Uzbekistan held a worldwide Fencing Championship among cadets and juniors, which was attended by more than 1,300 athletes from more than 100 countries.
Prestigious tournament is organized under the auspices of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), with the support of the Government of Uzbekistan, the National Olympic Committee, Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Fencing Federation of the Republic.
Fencing is one of the oldest sports. A current championship will play a very important role in career of every participant.
In the penultimate day of the competition, Vice-President of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) Frederick Petrushka (France) gave an interview to the news agency "Jahon", in which he shared his impressions of the estimates and the development of sport in our country.
It should be noted that with the support of the country’s leadership of the Uzbek school of fencing makes significant steps in the development of this type of sport. Uzbekistan has a solid base for training and for major international championships. It is gratifying that the head of your federation stands is the famous and well-known athlete in the world - Sabir Ruziyev. We talk a lot and look forward to further cooperation. I think that the future World Fencing Championship among adults there will also be held in Tashkent. I am happy to be back here again.
Its the third time I come to Uzbekistan and I am very impressed with the excellent organization of the World Fencing Championship among cadets and juniors. I can say with certainty that for the first time at a world tournament provide such a warm reception.
Speaking of the future joint projects between the FIE and Fencing Federation of Uzbekistan, after the tournament, we will undoubtedly be considered the greatest opportunity for our cooperation. Now it is too early to talk about it, because this tournament is not yet over and we do not obtain the final results.
My heart’s desire is to see as many young beginners, enthusiasts of exactly fencing. So for me this sport is the best of all sports fields.
In conclusion, I wish to Uzbekistan prosperity and all the best, and say that the country is famous in the world not only a rich historical and cultural heritage, but also weighty achievements in sport.
