Festival of fine and applied art

The Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan holds April 21 – 25 a traditional Festival of Fine and Applied Art, reports press service of the academy.

This year the art festival is timed to the Year of Attention and Care for the Senior Generation.

The public will have the opportunity to familiarize with applied and fine art of Uzbekistan, and enjoy the events within the festival.

Five-day festival covers all the regions. Along with celebrated professionals the art pieces will be demonstrated by young and beginning artists.

The events in the capital will be hosted by the Central Exhibition Hall, Gallery of Fine Art of Uzbekistan, Tashkent House of Photography, Kamoliddin Behzod Museum-Park, State Museum of Arts, Ikuo Hirayama International Caravansarai of Culture, and the Republican Theater of the Young Spectator. Lots of other events will also be held in all the regions and Karakalpakstan.

The works presented by artists will be put on display on the streets and squares, historical and architectural complexes and recreation parks. It is expected the exhibition of works by the Japanese photo artist Shota Nagase, and solo exhibition by the Latvian artist Valdis Bush.

The events list of the festival also includes various exhibitions, workshops, fashion show of national dress, concerts, discussions with art historians and experts on the modern fine art issues. It is planned the exhibition of works by students of the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, presentation of books, catalogs and new editions of the magazine "San’at" of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, round table discussions on the theme "Fine Art of Uzbekistan: Interpretation of the Heritage and Creative Endeavors".

TV monitors in all exhibition halls will screen documentaries on culture and art of Uzbekistan during all five days of the festival.
