A workshop devoted to the development of the national information sphere was held in an unusual form for parliament members – in the form of an excursion to the Museum of history of communication of Uzbekistan.
Taking part in the event organized by the Committee on the problems of information and communication technologies of the lower chamber of parliament along with the deputies were specialist of the sphere, representatives of public organizations and students of higher educational institutions.
The museum exposition helped better understand the significance of transformations in this field, which had taken place during the years of independence and manifested the rapid advancement of the ICT in this country.
The sector of information-communication technologies in recent years has turned into an important highly-profitable segment of national economy, coming out as a locomotive for raising the efficiency of all its other areas. the Republic now ranks among the regional leaders in the field of mobile communications and high-speed Internet.
The information system complexes have already been introduced in the tax and public utility services, in the customs, education, health services and others. In helped, for example, in the tax sphere to fully shift to a electronic tax reporting system, as well as render tax-payers more than 50 types of interactive services. Thanks to electronic declarations and registration of commodities as well as export-import contracts the process of formalizing goods and rendering other accompanying services in the customs sphere was reduced from three to one working day. 100% of customs declarations were filled in the electronic form during the first half a year of 2016.
Presentations made in the course of the seminar were devoted to pressing directions in the national information sphere, in particular, to the introduction of the e-government system, development of the information infrastructure, national mass media and digital TV and radio broadcasting.
“The explosion of the museum used during the workshop helped to review on concrete examples the global structural changes in this field,” noted deputy of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, Bekzod Ortiqov. “The participants were able to get detailed information on the measures implemented by the parliament on the further improvement of legislation.”
The participants of the workshop underlined that the status of the national information sphere, its openness and dynamism have been demonstrating high level of democratization and liberalization of our society and its potential in the achievement of a long-term objective – merging with the most industrially advanced countries of the world.
