International Trade Fair of Food and Beverages (MIFB-2016) has taken place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

More than 400 companies from 40 countries, including Uzbekistan, presented their products. At the MIFB-2016, our country’s embassy in Malaysia organized a national stand, acquainting visitors with the investment, industrial and export potential of Uzbekistan. Emphasis was placed on the Free Industrial Economic Zone Navoi, SIZ Angren and Jizzakh. One of the visitors, a senior fellow at the Malaysian Council for the production and sale of spices, Stephen Mariasomalia, said that with great interest he got acquainted with the capacities of Uzbekistan in the sphere of food production. “Malaysia, with its 30 million population is a major consumer of fresh and processed products, including different types of spices. We are confident that Uzbekistan, which has a large industrial and agricultural potential, can become one of the main partners in the delivery to Malaysia of various kinds of food. To this end, we in turn are going to take part in the international fruit and vegetable trade fair, which will be held in Tashkent every year.”

South-East Asian nations could import from Uzbekistan not only fruits and vegetables, but also a quality wine, believes the director of Winepak Corporation Gilbert Yeoh Cean Wei. “The fact that in 2015 alone, the country cultivated more than 1.6 million tons of grapes determines the need for supplies of Uzbek wines to Malaysia and other countries in the region. Our company has 30 years of experience in the production and distribution of the drink. We would be glad to see Uzbekistan among our suppliers and manufacturers. In this regard, Winepak Corporation will send a group of experts to your country for business meetings.”

The Uzbek exposition also presented all kinds of dried fruits to the public. Being in awe of their palatability, the participants expressed interest in the import of these products.
