‘FRUIT'FUL WEEK

At the international agricultural exhibition, Green Week Berlin, Uzbek companies have signed contracts worth $ 151.2 million to export fruit and vegetable products.

The goods are projected to be exported to more than 10 countries, including the UK, Germany, India, China, Latvia, UAE, Turkey and the Republic of Korea.

The agro-industrial potential of Uzbekistan was presented at the prestigious international event by foreign trade companies Uzbekoziqovqat-holding, Uzvinsanoat-holding, Uzagroeksport, as well as by farmers from different regions of the country.

Uzbekistan’s 200 square meters-wide national stand exhibited a broad range of fresh fruits, vegetables and melons, dried fruits, fat and wine products, spices and seasonings, processed fruit and vegetable products such as juices, jams and a variety of canned foods.

The visitors were introduced to Uzbekistan’s capacities in growing fruits and vegetables, the supply and demand in agriculture, and they left their positive acclaim of the quality and diversity of fruits and vegetables from our country. For instance, during a business meeting, Danish entrepreneurs tasted fresh and dried products, appreciated their taste, and expressed willingness for further cooperation.

In turn, the Uzbek delegation of governors of several districts and regions held talks with representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, agribusiness companies, associations of Germany and other nations. During the negotiations, the representatives of foreign companies were introduced into the current state of economic development in Uzbekistan, efforts designed for modernization and technological re-equipment of industrial enterprises, including the agricultural sector, further improvement of the investment climate, as well as into state programs on infrastructural enlargement.

“During the exhibition, the Uzbek side also met with representatives of the German Chamber of Commerce. The parties to talks discussed opportunities for the exchange of information and experience, as well as the introduction of Global GAP certification in Uzbekistan. They agreed on holding bilateral negotiations with the involvement of all interested agencies and persons on the territory of Uzbekistan in the framework of a working visit due April-May of the current year," the press service of Uzagroeksport reported.

Talks with the officials of the German company Tampico Trading Gmbh, headed by member of the Board Helmut Stummvoll, also proved important. Representatives of the business expressed intention to purchase Uzbek walnut, sesame, licorice root, pomegranate, melon and pumpkin stones.
