‘GOLDEN AUTUMN' OF ARTS

Within a month, the entire country has been immersed in the wonderful world of art. The capital’s theaters toured to the regions, and Tashkent hosted the concert by famous musicians from around the world.

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture and Sports initiated the first ‘Oltin Kuz’ (Golden Autumn) International Festival of Arts. From October 28 to December 3 the concerts of orchestras and folklore-ethnographic ensembles were held around the country, along with performances of pop singers and theater troupes, as well as the master classes.

These events turned a great present for art connoisseurs. But apart from this, the festival became an unforgettable, valuable and interesting for music groups and theater troupes themselves. They enriched the ranks of their fans, talked with young musicians, actors and directors, and using the art they reach out the hearts of people living in remote areas of the country.

As it was reported, the festival was opened by the concert featuring young, but already reached certain heights musicians from Latvia, France and Switzerland. The concerts of all members of the Association of National symphonic orchestras, chamber and folk instrument orchestras were held as well. For example, the Turkistan chamber orchestra held a recital of the composer Felix Yanov-Yanovsky, whose works are performed outside of Uzbekistan as well. The audience enjoyed the long–awaited evening of jazz music performed by the Bоtir Zokirov Variety-Symphonic Orchestra. The biggest surprise of the festival was the involvement of famous local and foreign musicians. One of the concerts at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan by the Soloists of Uzbekistan Orchestra was conducted by the regent of the choir of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Vladimir Gorbik. Several concerts by the National Symphonic Orchestra were conducted by the internationally renowned Uzbek musician-conductor Aziz Shokhakimov. One of these concerts, held in the Turkistan Palace, was dedicated to the solo performance of the youngest representative of a dynasty of musicians - Vladimir Svredlov-Ashkenazy. He performed such masterpieces of classical music, as the seventh symphony by Beethoven and the first concerto for piano and orchestra by Tchaikovsky.

Another one of our compatriot got renowned abroad Tigran Shiganyan conducted two concerts, which presented the solo performances of the violist Yuri Gandelsman form the USA, the violinist Igor Kalnin and the pianist Rochelle Sennett.

The festival got involved not only of Tashkent but regional stages as well. So, the Hamid Alimdjon Samarkand Regional Theater of Musical Drama hosted the concert ‘Melodies of the Valley’, which presented classic songs and melodies performed by the Maqom ensemble. The theater also hosted the opera ‘Sadoqat’ (Fidelity) performed by the Alisher Navoi State Academic Grand Theater troupe. The Alisher Navoi Theater troupe was not the only who performed in other stages. Thus, the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theater presented the performances Ko’ngil’ (The Soul) and ‘Qirmizi Olma’ (Red Apple) in the Ferghana Valley. The troupe of the Uzbek State Theater of Satire played guest performances in Samarkand and Navoi regions, while Karakalpakstan residents enjoyed the performances of the Muqimiy Uzbek State Musical Theater. The Theater of Operetta and the Youth Theater of Uzbekistan visited Bukhara with their plays.

It should be noted about the concerts of the famous Italian singer Toto Cutugno, and the famous Italian opera singer Alessandro Safina, who performed with the National Symphonic Orchestra of Uzbekistan. Bоth the long-awaited and grand events, held in the Uzbekistan Palace of International Forums, aroused great interest in the audience.

The Uzbekistan Palace of International Forums also hosted a concert by the National Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of Aziz Shohakimov, which crowned a large-scale festival, contributing to the popularization of the classical world and national music, cultural enrichment of Uzbek citizens, as well as the exchange of experience among the young and experienced artists.
