GREEK EDITION: REFORMS IN UZBEKISTAN ARE AIMED AT IMPROVING THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE

The popular news site Greece Athenspress.gr published an article in English under the title "The Independence Day of Uzbekistan", dedicated to the socio-economic reforms undertaken in our country during the years of sovereign development.

The article notes that due to the attainment of independence and self-sacrificing work of the Uzbek people, in a historically short period of time the country has made tremendous progress in all spheres of public life. In the country towns and villages every year are improved. Balanced economic development is the basis for the steady improvement of living standards of the population.

According to the Greek edition of Uzbekistan today is a modern, dynamically developing state. The republic’s economy over the past period has grown more than 5.5 times, real income per capita - 9 times, average life expectancy has increased from 67 to 73 years, women - 75 years. These data suggest that the effectiveness of the reforms in the country, aimed at ensuring economic growth and improving the welfare of the population.

— Today, Uzbekistan ranks fifth in the world among countries with rapidly growing economies, and in the last eleven years, despite the ongoing global economic crisis, the growth rate of GDP is more than 8%, which is admirable.

The country now takes 44th place among 158 countries in the world in the "global index of happiness", and the first - among CIS countries, - Athenspress.gr noted.

The article also notes that the State attaches great importance to establish a new system of education and upbringing of the younger generation. "In the country every year more than 600 thousand young professionals, who correspond to the requirements of time, confidently enter life, becoming a truly decisive force of society," - the publication stressed.
