The "Crystal Hall" of metropolitan International Hotel Tashkent hosted a pre-match press-conference dedicated to the quarterfinals of the strongest eight teams at AFC Futsal Championship. It was attended by head coaches of Uzbekistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Australia, Japan, Thailand, Iran and Kyrgyzstan.
In an interview with Jahon Information Agency the head coach of our national team Jose Maria Pazos Mendez shared his expectations and forecasts regarding the development of this type of sport in Uzbekistan.
— First of all, I want to thank the many millions of fans of our team and to praise their immeasurable contribution to the victories of national team of Uzbekistan. Taking into account my own experience, I can surely say that not every country of the world can support the home team so well.
As for the upcoming match, let me emphasize that it would not be easy, and it would decide the desire for victory, strong will, physical and professional qualities of players. Of course, the players of our team are ready to play, but we have to do better than in previous matches.
Uzbekistan Futsal players have strong-willed qualities, professional skills, which allow performing stable at continental competitions, achieving high results.
Although the development of this sport in Uzbekistan is not so high as that of the giants of the Asian futsal - Iran, Japan and Thailand, but it is an incentive to further progressive improvement of all factors of development in this direction.
Continental giants have a peculiar culture of futsal and attitude towards it. Thus, since 5 years of age Japanese, Thais and Iranians children are beginning to engage in specialized sports sections. They are imbued with genuine love for futsal and struggling to be like the stars of their national teams.
Uzbekistan has all the features to let this sport get even greater impetus of development. Moreover, youth policy and sport are priority directions of development of the state. In summary, I would emphasize that Uzbekistan’s futsal has a great future.
