How long can COVID-19 live in the human body?

A group of scientists from Beijing Medical Center concluded that the coronavirus in human body persists for several days even after disappearing of the disease symptoms.

Data belonging to 16 patients with an average age of 35.5 were analyzed during the experience in Beijing Hospital. Half of the patients involved in experiment for one to eight days were observed the release of virus even after disappearing symptoms.

Scientists in recommendations based on these findings do not separately note the category of elderly people who have a weak immune system. But it is likely that the virus in the elderly can live for a long time.

According to WHO representative in Russia Melita Vujnovic, coronavirus is dangerous for people of all ages and, despite the fact that young people get sick less, they also need to be protected.
