HUAWEI TO SUPPORT TALENTED STUDENTS OF IUT

Inha University in Tashkent and Huawei Company (FE “Huawei Tech. Investment Tashkent” LLC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 20, 2016. The document aims at supporting talented youth of Uzbekistan and facilitating further development of ICT in Uzbekistan.

Huawei CEO, Mr. Wang Peng and Rector of Inha University in Tashkent Mr. Sherzod Shermatov signed a Memorandum of Understanding during a ceremony, held at the premises of the University.

Within the framework of the memorandum, Huawei, which is one of the leading companies in the field of information and communication technologies and solutions, will provide annual grants to five gifted undergraduate students of Inha University in Tashkent for four academic years.

Every year, Huawei will select gifted students among freshmen of Inha University, based on the results of entrance exams and motivation letters in English. The interview with special commission, which includes company’s specialists and university professors, will become the final selection stage.

In the frameworks of cooperation Inha University in Tashkent and Huawei are also planning to create special IT courses for university students. The world’s leading university professors and specialists will be attracted to lead these courses.

The support of IUT students’ Startup projects will be another important area of cooperation. Huawei has expressed its interest in supporting students to create specialized projects, software and solutions. It is planned to utilize them not only in Uzbekistan, but also in the global market.

The sides will also consider the opportunity of creating IT laboratory in the building of Inha University in Tashkent. Students can get practical skills in using a variety of equipment and solutions of Huawei company there.

“It’s not our first project in Uzbekistan aimed at supporting young people and the educational system of the country. We are very pleased that Inha University in Tashkent is among our partners. In spite of the short period of time this university is developing very rapidly and preparing IT professionals on the international level. I am convinced that by supporting young and talented university students, Huawei is making a great contribution to the future of not only its industry, but also in the whole Uzbekistan. After receiving a quality education and to defining clear goals for the future, the younger generation will develop ICT in Uzbekistan, which will also contribute to the development of our business in this country”, said Wang Peng, CEO of FE "Huawei Tech. Investment Tashkent " LLC.

Rector of Inha University in Tashkent Sherzod Shermatov commenting on the partnership, stated: "We are delighted that one of the world leaders in the field of ICT has decided to support gifted young people of our country. The memorandum opens up new opportunities for students IUT. Firstly, the most talented ones will be able to study for free. Secondly, students will be able to explore solutions and Huawei products, which are widely used not only in Uzbekistan, but also abroad."
