INDUSTRIAL ZONE: INVESTMENT IN PROMISING PROJECTS

As noted at final meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, in spite of ongoing global financial and economic crisis as a result of consistent and systematic implementation of major directions and priorities of economic program, the past 2015 demonstrated that Uzbekistan achieved high rates of economic growth and macroeconomic balance.

Staff of industrial enterprises, who operate in the special industrial zone (SIZ) "Jizzakh", have contributed to welfare and prosperity of the republic. There is also a branch of this SIZ in Syrdarya region, which was created a few years ago on the initiative of head of state.

Currently, a large-scale work on the development of transport, industrial and engineering infrastructure is being conducted here. High-tech industries with the involvement of direct investments are being established. They produce products in demand on domestic and foreign markets. Only in past 2015 in SIZ "Jizzakh" several industrial facilities came into operation.

For instance, currently Uzbek-Chinese joint venture "Master Bilding Products", which is registered in the form of a limited liability company, has established the production of several types of products. According to the head of enterprise Akhriddin Mahmudov, the annual capacity totals 400 thousand meters of polypropylene pipes for hot and cold water, 200 thousand meters of pipes for heating systems, as well as 5.5 million pieces of fittings, valves and accessories for mounting. The company employed more than 60 villagers, most of them are graduates of local professional colleges.

Last year, in the framework of investment projects of the Association "Uzbekcharmpoyabzali" another two companies were also put into operation. The first one is JV "AUTO Rad Systems" for production of automotive brake pads for all types of transport. Production capacity - 397.5 thousand sets per year. The project cost totaled 4 million US dollars. The second production is JV LLC "Master Screw Systems", specializing in the production of metal products, metal profiles and accessories for mounting drywall sheets.

Joint ventures LLC "Quyosh issiqlik energiyasi" and "Yorqin chiroqlar", which manufacture collectors and energy-saving LED lamps, are operating successfully in SIZ. On the eve of Constitution Day, Uzbek-British joint venture "Roison Home White Goods" for the production of modern household appliances was commissioned.

At its creation 26.6 million US dollars has been directed. It is one of the largest enterprises, which operate in a special industrial zone. Its annual capacity of 650 thousand units of various household appliances - TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, gas cookers. Currently, 200 people are provided with work here, and in the coming 2016, 140 job places will be created.

Another established industrial facility - joint venture "Juita Gulshana Invest". Production of sewing machines with annual capacity of about 15 thousand units of products under the brand "JUITA" has been launched here. The project amounted to 1.2 million US dollars. Another good news is that on the eve of New Year a carpet factory LLC "Diamond carpet" was commissioned in SIZ "Jizzakh".

— Total cost of the project amounted to 6.4 million US dollars, company’s deputy director on production of Hayot Oblakulov said. - Designed capacity totals three thousand tons of polypropylene yarn and 1.2 million square meters of carpets annually. The factory is equipped with modern high-tech equipment. Its commissioning will not only significantly reduce imports of polypropylene granules, imported from Iran, but also will reduce the cost of finished product.

In 2016, we plan to launch more than ten new facilities for production of products with high added value. These are telecommunications equipment, wiring accessories, batteries, modems, ceramic tiles, insulation materials, and more.

In general, domestic and foreign investors intend to implement more than 30 large projects on localization of production based on local raw materials, in coming years in special economic zone and its branch in Syrdarya region.
