In Uzbekistan from July 1, the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) will begin to award academic degrees according to the new rules
Recall that the assignment of academic degrees was suspended in February this year after the adoption of a decision on the introduction of a two-stage system for training highly qualified personnel in the country.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the state requirements for the postgraduate education, the Regulations on it, as well as the samples of PhD diplomas, doctors of science (DSc) and certificates of an associate professor, senior researcher and professor.
The replacement of entrance examinations for doctoral candidacy with an interview became a significant novelty. Entrance examinations were kept in the basic doctoral studies. In addition, the examinations on the newest history of Uzbekistan, a foreign language and specialties for the candidates to the academic degree of doctors of sciences were canceled. The examinations for a foreign language and specialties are reserved for the aspirants to the Ph.D.
Along with the above, the requirements for foreign publications are reduced to one scientific article in a foreign journal determined by the Higher Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers.
For the candidates to the Ph.D. degree, the introduction of research results into practice is replaced with "submitting the results for implementation in practice". Thus, the fact of implementation is mandatory for the aspirants to the degree of Doctor of Science.
The HAC was instructed to ensure the beginning of reception and consideration of attestation cases from the 1st of July and the awarding of the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Science to the candidates.
