A new joint-stock commercial housing and construction savings bank, Poytakht Bank, is to be set up in Tashkent
The authorized capital of Poytakht Bank will be built in the equivalent of at least 10 million euros, 3 billion soums (currency rates of CB RU from 31.03.2017, 1$= 3595.02 soums) of which will be invested from the Tashkent budget as an initial deposit, as well as by legal entities and individuals, including foreign investors.
Once the charter capital is formed and documents submitted, the Central Bank will process the state registration of the bank in accordance with the established procedure, and subsequently issue a license for foreign currency operations.
Key functions of the new financial institution will come to mortgage lending and banking services for the population and legal entities in terms of meeting their housing needs, as well as provision of credit resources to the contractors engaged in the construction of affordable multi-apartment buildings.
Another area of Bank’s missions implies the fulfillment of customer’s functions in terms of engineering and construction of affordable multi-apartment buildings, lending and leasing services to specialized contractors engaged in the construction and repair of apartment buildings in Tashkent.
The new Bank will also deal with drawing foreign investments, including loans, as well as technical assistance of international financial institutions in funduing the construction of affordable multi-apartment buildings.
The funding of design and implementation of the projects that envisage quality improvement of engineering infrastructure, lending to producers of up-to-date, efficient, energy-saving and marketable construction materials and equipment is an additional area of activity.

SCO RATS Council holds thirtieth meeting in Tashkent
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure Council (SCO RATS) held its thirtieth meeting in Tashkent on 30 March, presided over by China and joined by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and SCO RATS Executive Committee.
SCO RATS harmonised its 2016 report and reviewed the Cooperation Programme on Combatting Terrorism, Separatism, and Extremism 2016-2018, as well as some of SCO RATS Council’s earlier decisions. The SCO RATS Executive Committee’s work was commended.
The meeting also approved SCO’s draft Anti-extremism Convention.
The joint military exercise ‘Cooperation 2016’ in Uzbekistan was also praised.
The meeting agreed to hold joint anti-terrorism exercises, border operations and the 5th Scientific Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Extremism Conference in 2017.
Anti-terrorism measures by SCO Member States’ respective authorities were revised and aligned.
Distinctive employees both at Member States’ respective authorities and at SCO RATS Executive Committee were awarded.
The Council also discussed staffing, SCO RATS Executive Committee funding, and legal underpinning for anti-terrorism efforts.
The next SCO RATS Council meeting will take place in September 2017 in China.

Gymnasts of Uzbekistan win six medals
Young sportspeople of this country have won three gold and three bronze medals in Minsk’s gymnastics open competition.
In the multidiscipline competitions, Utkirbek Jorayev and Anastasiya Miroshnichenko won.
In the competition’s individual events, A.Miroshnichenko also won high scores. She won a gold medal in the vault competition, a bronze medal on the parallel bars event and a bronze medal in the floor exercises.
Another sports girl from Uzbekistan, Dildora Oripova, scored 46.7 points and took third place in the multidiscipline competition.
