Cooperative Capacity
The inter-branch industrial fair of the Complex for Agriculture and Water Resources, Agricultural Products and Consumer Goods Processing, and the Complex for Export Capacity, Machine Building, Automotive and Electrical Industry, and Product Standardization Development has wrapped up in Tashkent.
As noted at the opening ceremony, the ongoing large-scale work in our country on the production upgrade, technical and technological expansion, expansion of cooperation ties, establishment of sustainable partnerships, and stimulation of demand for domestic products has been contributing to sustainable development of the economy.
The emphasis is laid on the production of finished products and components from local raw materials, strengthening of partnerships between large industrial enterprises and small business entities. The Localization Program has been contributing to the development of cooperative ties between production enterprises, expansion of the product range and quality, development of import substitution and exports. The traditional inter-sector industrial fairs that are annually held within the framework of the first stage of the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange, serve as an important step to expand the scale of work in this direction.
This year’s inter-branch industrial fair has brought together more than 950 enterprises under the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Uzpakhtasanoatexport, Uzagrosanoatmashholding, Uzbekoziqovqatholding and Uzvinosanoatholding companies, Uzdonmahsulot, Uzavtosanoat, Uzbekyengilsanoat and Uzeltekhsanoat joint-stock companies and Uzbekcharmpoyabzali Association, as well as representatives of small businesses and private enterprises.
The exposition of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources was diverse and colorful. More than 30 industrial enterprises represented over 170 types of products, including various brands of pumps by Suvmash, cars, machines by Suvsanoatmash, electric motors by Toshkent Electric Motor Enterprise.
“We see the Fair as a convenient platform to strengthen cooperation between industrial enterprises and organizations within the ministry’s system,” said the Senior Specialist of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources Jurabek Abdullayev. “Our enterprises signed contracts for 7.8 billion soums (currency rates of CB RU from 15.05.2017, 1$= 3765.77 soums) at the last year’s intersectoral fair, while this year we expect to conclude agreements for about 10 billion soums.”
Textile industry ranks among the boosting sectors in Uzbekistan, as once again proved by a broad range of products presented at Uzbekyengilsanoat stands.
According to the company’s Senior Specialist Makhbuba Sultonova, the last year’s fair was attended by about 15 enterprises, while this year’s Fair has hosted more than twenty companies presenting more than 150 types of products. It is noteworthy that the bulk of products are export-oriented.
The ongoing gradual reforms on the development of production of finished goods with high added value have been contributing to the expansion of industrial cooperation. The performance of enterprises operating in the structure of Uzavtosanoat – the supplier of modern cars of various brands to the domestic market and more than 15 countries, is an impressive proof.
Uz-Koram Co of Andijan ranks among such manufacturers. It has been producing bumpers, dashboards and dampers for domestic cars for twenty years, providing jobs to 850 workers.
“Aiming to diversify production, we have launched the manufacture of eight types of polypropylene products since December 2016,” says the Head of the Uz-Koram Co localization sector Elyor Ashurov. “At the exhibition, these products are widely represented along with new types of car components.”
Specialized industrial presentations within the industrial fair introduced guests to technical and technological capacity, offered proposals for cooperation. The guests had a chance to see technical innovations and production achievements, estimate the demand for materials and component parts that will be produced in the near future, conclude agreements on the development of new types of industrial products.

These and other questions were answered by the participants in a sociological survey conducted by the Center “Ijtimoiy Fikr” for the Study of Public Opinion. Respondents were the residents of all regions of the republic, men and women of different ages, different professions, education level and nationality.
The purpose of the survey was to find out the opinion of the country’s residents on the work of state bodies with citizens’ appeals in the first quarter of this year as a part of the Strategy for Actions and the state program "Year of dialogue with the people and human interests".
The survey showed that the absolute majority of respondents (84.3%) supported the new system of active and open dialogue with the people initiated by the head of our state, a qualitatively new format of the work with the appeals of individuals and legal entities in the form of the functioning the institution of the people’s reception.
According to the received information, 34.6% of the respondents have recently applied to the government or economic management authorities to resolve various issues. At the same time, more than half of the survey participants addressed their requests on the protection or provision of their rights to the hokimiyats (local administration) of various levels. This gives grounds to believe that these structures are trusted by the population. 28% of the study participants sought the assistance in the mahallas, judicial, law enforcement and supervisory bodies, pension fund, social security departments, ministries of health, public and higher education.
In the course of the survey, it was revealed that the issues related to the communal sphere and private homeowners’ partnerships (PHOP), timely supply of the electricity, drinking water, gas and heating were topical for the 32.4% of the citizens. The people also turned to state authorities and economic management bodies on the timely payment of pensions and benefits, land use issues, obtaining bank loans, high-quality medical services, due to dissatisfaction with the court decisions.
The obtained results showed that more than half of all respondents - 61.4% applied to the relevant organizations in the form of a written application through the reception, and 16.7% of the survey participants used the Single Portal of Interactive Public Services, 13.1% sent applications or complaints directly to the websites of the ministries and departments.
At the same time, the most common form of citizens’ appeals is a claim statement - 75.4% of respondents used this option. Each fifth participant of the poll filed a complaint. In the course of the survey, 82.1% of the respondents said that when reviewing their appeal, the head or deputy head of the organization personally talked with them in the process of discussing the issue concerning them.
More than a half (53.9%) of those applying to the administrative bodies received replies to their applications within the fifteen-day period that was established by law. 13.3% of citizens noted that the response to their appeal came within one month which was allowed by law in exceptional cases when an additional verification was necessary to consider the application. In the opinion of 67.8% of the respondents, after their appeals, the concrete steps have been taken to address the problem. It was also revealed that almost every second respondent was satisfied with the results of the appeal, one in five (more than 20%) was partially satisfied, from 5% to 10% of respondents were not satisfied with answers.
In short, the conducted sociological survey showed that an active and open dialogue with the population initiated by the head of state ensures social justice and the achievement of the strategic goals of the all-round development of the country.

EXHIBITON

The visiting exhibition of the State Museum of Arts of Karakalpakstan ‘Treasures of Nukus’, hosting by at the Moscow Museum of Fine Arts, gets extended until May 30 due to the highest interest of the public
Earlier it was assumed that the exhibition would be ended on May 10, which displays more than 250 works of fine and decorative art, as well as archaeological antiquities from the collection of the Igor Savitsky State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, and located in two buildings of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.
The founder of ‘Treasures of Nukus’ Igor Savitsky (1915-1984) was the artist, collector of objects of painting, graphics and folk-applied art, who set a goal to show how the easel art in Uzbekistan arose after the revolution. Due to his efforts the collection of Oriental art began to form that is called the Turkestan avant-garde. Also Savitsky interested in the works of artists, for whom staying in Asia was a bright, but incidental phenomenon.
The exhibition presents the works of the masters of the Jack of Diamonds Association of Painters - Robert Falk, Vasily Rozhdestvensky, Alexander Kuprin, as well as representatives of the Turkestan avant-garde - Alexander Volkov, Ural Tansykbaev and others. Especially for the exhibition the canvas by Yevgeny Lysenko ‘A Bull’, which became a symbol of the museum, was taken from Nukus to Moscow.
A separate part of the exhibition displays the ritual and household items: ossuaries for the Zoroastrian burial ritual, pottery, polychrome ceramics of the 13th - 14th centuries, and also national costumes and decorative objects, including those used in the interior of the yurt.
The exhibition shows only a small part of the unique collection of the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, which today has about 100 thousand exhibits. As Savitsky dreamed, the museum in Nukus has become one of the largest in Uzbekistan, which attracts visitors from all over the world and has every opportunity to become an international museum and research center to study its extensive collection.

SPORT

Athletes of Uzbekistan have earned nine gold medals at the Asian Boxing Championship, which ended last week in Tashkent. This allowed them to take the first place in the team event and book 10 tickets for the World Championships due in Germany’s Hamburg
In addition, Hasanboi Dusmatov was recognized as the best boxer of the tournament. Thus, our country has confirmed its status as the strongest boxing power on the continent. Today, we propose recalling the final matches on the way to this triumph.
The owner of the bronze medal of the Rio Olympic Games in 2016 Murodjon Ahmadaliyev (up to 56 kg) met with the Chinese silver medalist Zhang Jia Wei, two-time silver medalist of the Asian Games. If in the previous battles the native of Chust, Namangan region, won early victories, then in the finals he had to make a lot of efforts to beat the opponent. Ahmadaliyev and Zhang Jia Wei met in 2013, then the Chinese boxer proved stronger, but this time the Uzbek athlete took revenge and for the first time in his career became the champion of Asia.
Bronze medalist of the World Championship Elnur Abduraimov (up to 60 kg) came to the ring against Tapa Shiva from India. The fight lasted less than three minutes, as at the end of the first round the boxers collided and got injured. Four out of five referees gave victory to our boxer.
The champion of Uzbekistan, undefeated boxer of WSB Israil Madrimov (up to 75 kg) in the finals met with Lee Dong Yong from the Republic of Korea. Our compatriot started the match very actively, but in the first round he opened a dissection, got in a difficult semi-final battle. The fight was also stopped and by the decision of the judges - the victory was on the side of Madrimov.
The owner of silver medals of the Rio Olympics and the World Championship Bektemir Melikuziev fought against Erik Alzhanov from Kazakhstan. In the first minute of the match, the opponent looked a bit fresher than Melikuziev, but the Uzbek player was able to seize the initiative and hold it for the rest of the match. As a result of three rounds, the native of Ferghana defended the title of champion of Asia.
Olympic champion in 2016 Hasanboi Dusmatov came to the ring against Gan-Erden Ganhuyaga from Mongolia. The Andijan boxer was much faster than his opponent, who did not have time to evade his explosive attacks. The owner of the Val Barker Cup confidently surpassed the opponent and defended the title of champion of Asia.
Silver medalist of the World Championship Jasurbek Latipov met with Kim Ying Kyu from the Republic of Korea. The representative of Uzbekistan showed very technical boxing and deservedly won.
Ikbol Kholdarov, holder of the bronze of the youth world championship (under 64 kg) took the place of Fazliddin Gaibnazarov in the national team of Uzbekistan, who moved to professional boxing. In the final, he faced Chinzor Baatarasukha from Mongolia, seeded under the first number of these competitions. In the first round, the opponent looked better, but Kholdarov changed tactics, acted more tactfully and accurately, which helped him eventually become the champion of Asia.
Vice-champion of the Olympic Games-2016 Shahram Giyasov (up to 69 kg) "crossed" gloves with the winner of the youth Olympics in Nanjing-2014 Ablaikhan Zhusupov. The native of Bukhara sent the Kazakh to knockdown in the first three minutes, but he managed to continue the fight. Shahram in the usual manner arranged a show for the fans: he boxed with his hands down and literally danced in the ring. Following the results of three exciting rounds, a unanimous decision was ceded to Giyasov.
In the heavyweight (+91 kg) another confrontation between the teams of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took place – Bahodir Jalolov confronted Kamshibek Kunkabaev. The host of the ring, who twice lost to his opponent in the last two years, this time acted in another tactic. Jalolov moved more, successfully counter-attacked and was able to take revenge, thereby winning the gold medal of the Asian Championship.
