The National University named after Mirzo Ulugbek hosted Francophonie festival.

At the opening it was noted that in the years of independence Uzbekistan has been actively and successfully expanding international relations in all spheres, including humanitarian, and recently the government attaches special significance to the improvement of foreign language learning system. It was stressed that the country is not the first year of participating in the celebration of the International Day of Francophonie, which is celebrated around the globe as part of initiatives to support the linguistic and cultural diversity, education and science, the development of cooperation between nations.

The event organized jointly with the Embassy of France to Uzbekistan was attended by teachers, students and all interested in the language and culture of the country of Hugo and Balzac, as well as representatives of embassies of Member States and observers of the International Organization of the Francophonie. A quiz "Questions for the Francophonie", contests "Labcitoyen", "One month in France", and others were conducted among the guests. On the occasion of the festival an exhibition with national stands France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Georgia and Egypt was also organized.
