On December 14, Tashkent hosted an international conference on “Ensuring decent employment in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals: international practice and experience of Uzbekistan” within the framework of the visit of the delegation led by the Director-General of the International Labour Organization Guy Ryder to Uzbekistan.
This prestigious event was attended by experts from Uzbekistan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, experts of the UNDP, UNICEF, OSCE, the International Organization for Migration, the Asian Development Bank.
Current issues of settlement of labor migration, social protection of the population were discussed.
Director-General of the International Labour Organization Guy Ryder addressed the conference.
The ILO Decent Work Concept pursues such strategic goals as creation of jobs and effective provision of employment, labor guarantees and rights in safe conditions, targeted social protection, development and improvement of legislation in the sphere, and intensification of social dialogue.
At the conference, international experts noted that, to date, views on labor relations have become obsolete, society needs new development trends.
The conference continued its work in panel sessions. Such priorities as ensuring decent work and employment of the population, ensuring and regulating safety of labor migration, fundamental principles of prospects of labor relations were discussed. Presentations on activities of member states in this sphere were held.
