August 5-6, 2015 in Tashkent hosted round table on the theme "Progress in cooperation between Uzbekistan and the International Labour Organization and the World Bank in the implementation of international labor standards".
The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Council of the Trade Union Federation of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the World Bank (WB).
Round table was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, ILO delegation headed by the Director of the International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) Corinne Varga and Special Adviser of the ILO Director Kari Tapiola, the delegation of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), headed by INC adviser Anton Leppik, the delegation of the International Organization of Employers, as well as heads of international organizations and a number of diplomatic missions of foreign countries accredited in Tashkent.
On the first day of the following reports were presented national and foreign participants on the practical aspects of the country program on decent work in Uzbekistan, and the position of the trade unions of the Republic in this process, as well as issues of compliance with the ILO conventions to which Uzbekistan joined the organization.
Along with that discussed current and future programs of the World Bank in Uzbekistan in the implementation of international labor standards, the practice of hiring labor in the countryside and other issues.
In an interview with reporters a special adviser to Director General of the International Labour Organization Kari Tapiola said:
— Today’s meeting - is the next stage of our cooperation is continuing successfully. It takes place in the framework of the Country Programme on Decent Work in Uzbekistan, which was signed a year ago.
I would like to note that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ILO is developing quite actively. We hope that our cooperation will continue to be effectively implemented.
