On September 6, the grand opening ceremony of the International Forum of Maqom Art took place in the city of Shakhrisabz.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the ceremony.
The international forum is organized on the initiative of the Head of the state to broadly promote the Uzbek national maqom art, affirm respect among the younger generation and increase their interest in national classical music.
In accordance with the resolution of the President of the country “On holding the International Forum of Maqom Art” of April 6, 2018, this event was preceded by a large-scale preparation. Various exhibitions dedicated to maqom, shows and sales of national musical instruments, clothes, handicrafts, works of fine and applied art, sculpture, art and documentary films, books and albums are organized on Oqsaroy square in Shakhrisabz.
The International Forum of Maqom Art is held for the first time. In accordance with the resolution of the Head of the state, this event will be held every two years.
