IT MINISTRY AND CISCO SIGN DOCUMENT ON COOPERATION

The delegation of the Ministry for development of information technologies and communications on behalf of the head of state visited the headquarters of Cisco in Silicon Valley (California). They met with the Vice-President for strategy, technology and innovation Doug Webster.

During the meeting, representatives from Cisco presented the company’s vision on digital economy in the world, decisions on cybersecurity, “smart” and safe city based on “Internet of things” (IoT), as well as decisions on interaction and communication in the team.

Negotiations were held on further cooperation between Cisco and IT Ministry in the direction of the strategy of the safe and “smart” city in Uzbekistan. Following the talks, the parties signed an agreement of intent and further cooperation in the following areas:

— support and transfer of experience in the concept of smart cities and IoT;

— assistance in improving management practices of cybersecurity;

— participation in the digital transformation of Uzbekistan through the development of information and communication technologies in the Republic;

— support and transfer of experience in the field of broadband access.

Cisco was founded in 1984 and is a world leader in the field of network technology, the development of modern and innovative platforms for communication between people and organizations. In 2016, revenue from sales of technology and services amounted to 46 billion U.S. dollars.
