Popular Italian edition "Notizie Geopolitiche" published information materials in English and Italian on the development of the media in Uzbekistan.
In particular, it is entitled "Uzbekistan: Media Freedom - a guarantee of freedom of expression and information", notes that international conference "Strengthening the autonomy and independence of the media - a guarantee of freedom of expression and information" recently held in Tashkent, was attended by over 100 experts and representatives of over 20 international organizations and foreign embassies, as well as 50 media from all regions of the country.
"The main objective of the conference was to discuss the priorities and issues to further strengthen the independence of the media, including the economic, the preconditions for the formation of independent television and radio broadcasters, to develop their active citizenship, the creation of conditions of freedom of speech in the country on the basis of further strengthening competition in the creation and dissemination of high-quality media products", according to the material.
The article further notes that in an international forum panel discussions were also held. They informed on improving the legislative framework of media development and enforcement of legal acts in the media sector, strengthening economic foundations of the media as a factor in ensuring their freedom and independence, role and importance of public Support in the development of socially-oriented media.
Association "Uzbekistan-Italy", in turn, reported that the National Association of Electronic Media (NAEMM) and other agencies of Uzbekistan jointly with foreign partners implement projects to create community-oriented media products. Creative groups formed in Tashkent and in the regions of the country, preparing public service announcements, topical issues affecting the picture today in various fields.
