IUCN Representative Office opens in Uzbekistan

The opening ceremony of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Representative Office in Tashkent was held during the COP16 conference in Riyadh.

According to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, within the framework of the COP16 conference, which is taking place in Riyadh, with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Saudi Arabia, a ceremony of signing an agreement and opening of the representative office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Tashkent was held.

The agreement is noted as the legal basis for the activities of the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Uzbekistan and marks an important stage of long-term cooperation.

It is planned to expand cooperation by launching a project on integrated management of nature conservation and restoration of especially valuable landscapes in Uzbekistan, created jointly with GEF and the UN Development Programme.
