JESÚS GIL FUENSENTA: UZBEKISTAN - STABLE AND DYNAMICALLY DEVELOPING STATE IN CENTRAL ASIA

On the occasion of the anniversary of independence of our country, Professor of the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Secretary General of the Association of Orientalists Spain Jesús Gil Fuensenta in an interview with Jahon Information Agency shared his views and assessments of the current development of Uzbekistan.

— Over the past period Uzbekistan has turned into the most stable and dynamically developing country of the Central Asian region, - Spanish expert said. - The success of the country in different areas are the result of progressive reforms carried out under the leadership of President Islam Karimov.

Correctness and vitality of the Uzbek model of development are confirmed at this stage, when many countries in the world are struggling with the negative effects of the global financial and economic crisis. Against this background Uzbekistan has made remarkable achievements, which is reflected by a significant increase in GDP in recent years.

Your country is steadily increasing exports, indicating a substantial development of the national productive sphere, and the banking sector remains stable, as evidenced by the reports of reputable international rating agencies like Standard & Poors, Moody ’s and Fitch.

In this case, in my view, a major factor in this success is the broad diversification of the national economy. Over the past short period the country was able to create new industries, which have no analogues in the region, such as the automotive industry. The growth of the international image of Uzbekistan and contribute to modern airports, transport infrastructure.

Today, Uzbekistan is self-sufficient country and a major exporter of food and agricultural products. It is of great importance in the conditions of growing problems with the food supply globally.
