KUWAITI SCHOLARS: "UZBEKISTAN CONSISTENTLY AND SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTING ALL OUTLINED IN THE OBJECTIVES OF THE MDGS"

Representatives of the scientific and academic community of Kuwait in an interview Agency "Jahon" shared their views on the presented late last month in the second national report on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Uzbekistan.

Mohammed Al-Fily, Professor Faculty of Law, Kuwait University, an expert in public and constitutional law:

— The report clearly sets out all the key factors contributing to the achievement of the MDGs and formulate the challenges facing the Republic in the coming years.
It should be noted the great work of the Government of Uzbekistan to implement all eight of the main directions of the MDGs.

Sequential growth of the national economy of the country contributed to the creation of favorable conditions for the development of public health, addressing public health. Significantly reduced mortality among children. By improving medical services, made significant progress in the fight against infectious diseases, in particular to reducing the spread of HIV / AIDS. This area is a priority of practical health care, resides in the center of attention of the Government.

A positive factor is the repeated increase in recent years, spending on health budget. During the years of independence the country has been built or repaired hundreds of health facilities, the vast majority of which are located in regions of the republic. All are equipped with modern technology and equipment.

Raafat Fahmy Misak, professor of the Center for Life Sciences and Environmental Protection of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research:

— Analysis and assessment of progress towards the MDGs in Uzbekistan indicate that the country has consistently and successfully implementing all outlined in their tasks. Republic is one of the rare countries in the world that even in the crisis years have not reduced social programs, but rather increase them. Active social policy is implemented in all directions - in the areas of education and health, the implementation of various projects for the construction of social facilities, including educational institutions, hospitals, medical centers, improvement of water supply and sewerage services, increasing social payments, wages, pensions and scholarships, implementation targeted social programs and others.

As a specialist for the Environment want to emphasize undertaken by your Government measures to ensure environmental sustainability and quality of life. The republic has significantly reduced the proportion of saline lands, increase energy efficiency, reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. The budget allocated huge funds for projects in the areas of improving the management of water and land resources, energy infrastructure, as well as the provision of adequate sanitation, access to clean drinking water. Tremendous work held in these areas will undoubtedly ensure the sustainable development of Uzbekistan.
