In some editions of Latvia published articles and stories that tell about the X International Music Festival "Sharq taronalari", which has been held in Samarkand from 25 to 30 August 2015.
Materials, in particular, posted on the website of the international journal "Open City" and Internet portal Baltic News Service (BNS) under the heading "festival in Samarkand tied the Baltic states and Central Asia" and "festival, linking the continents". As noted, in this beautiful ancient city under the auspices of UNESCO and on the personal initiative of President Islam Karimov a grand international forum of music "Sharq taronalari" is conducted every two years. "In order to participate in this event representatives of 66 countries, including Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia arrived in the sacred land of the legendary city. Festival has been covered by more than 200 local and foreign journalists, and the main guest was the Deputy Director General of UNESCO, Eric Falt".
It is reported that this art festival attracts artists and folk groups from all over the world to introduce all participants and spectators with the traditional musical culture of their peoples. This year, on the stage of the majestic Registan demonstrated their mastery of singers and musicians from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Among them artists from Portugal, Costa Rica, Peru, Slovenia and Ecuador attended it for the first time.
In addition, the Latvian radio LTR4 aired a broadcasting with the participation of Vladimir Reshetov, who also visited Samarkand, along with a Lithuanian group Sutaras. He spoke about what he saw with his own eyes the fantastic sight - a festival of music.
Finally, the article notes that, by becoming a kind of center of musical art, "Sharq taronalari" contributes to the unification of different peoples with different languages, religions, customs, and general promotion of unique samples of national music and song art. "Inclusion in the number of international festival of cultural events of UNESCO demonstrates its high political and spiritual significance", - the Latvian media informed.
