The Presidents of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the region, visited the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent together with the President of Uzbekistan.
Established on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, the center became the first complex in history to unite in one place unique artifacts, as well as research and educational directions dedicated to preserving and promoting the priceless heritage of Islamic civilization.
The majestic complex was built in a harmonious combination of national architectural traditions and modern decorative solutions. Portals 34 meters high rise on each of its four sides, while the central part is crowned by a dome 65 meters high.
Presidents of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, accompanied by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the Hall of the Holy Quran, where one of the most significant spiritual relics of the Islamic world – the Mushaf of Uthman – is preserved. This unique manuscript, considered among the oldest copies of the Quran, holds exceptional historical and cultural significance and testifies to the deep spiritual traditions that have shaped the civilizational identity of the peoples of our region.
The Presidents also toured the sections “Pre-Islamic Civilizations”, “The First Renaissance”, “The Second Renaissance”, and “New Uzbekistan – New Renaissance”.
These sections showcase the rich scientific and spiritual heritage of our great ancestors – Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Abu Mansur Maturidi, Bahauddin Naqshbandi, and other outstanding thinkers. The exhibitions also feature handwritten editions from the eras of the Samanids, Karakhanids, Khwarezmshahs, Timurids, and other dynasties, along with their translations into Old Uzbek.
The leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural and civilizational ties between the countries of the region, promoting educational initiatives, and shaping common humanitarian values.
The large-scale efforts of Uzbekistan to preserve and promote the rich common heritage were highly praised. Confidence was expressed that the Center will serve as a modern research hub, opening up new horizons for scientific, educational, and cultural cooperation among the countries of the region.
