MAGNIFICENT SAMARKAND ON PAGES OF THE SEKAI NIPPO

The Japanese newspaper The Sekai Nippo published colorfully illustrated article "Samarkand: beauty and grandeur of the complex of Shahi Zinda". Its author - journalist of newspaper Susumu Fudzhihashi.

The article noted that Samarkand, which is therefore called the "Pearl of the East", has a long history. During the reign of the great Amir Temur, the city developed rapidly, becoming a center of science and culture.

"Not far fr om the settlement of Afrasiab there is one of the most mysterious and unique architectural monuments of Samarkand - Shahi Zinda complex, which consists of a string of fine, sparkling blue colors tombs - S.Fudzhihashi writes. - It is an amazingly beautiful and magnificent architectural complex of ancient city".

The author informs that Shahi Zinda is the burial place of royalty and nobility. But the main mausoleum, wh ere the necropolis begins, considered to be the imaginary grave of the Prophet Muhammad’s cousin - Kusam Ibn Abbas. Three times visit to this mausoleum is of the same visit to Mecca.

It is reported that the ensemble Shahi Zinda consists of 11 mausoleums, mosques and madrassas. Entrance gates were built by Tamerlane grandson Ulugbek. The main entrance to the crypt Shahi Zinda completing the entire ensemble.
