The mahalla institution occupies an important place in people’s lives in our country. The self-government bodies solve the most pressing issues of social and economic development of territories, law enforcement, education of youth.
Time has shown that the potential of this great institution, and therefore its powers are constantly expanding, in particular, on promoting the advancement of entrepreneurship, social protection of citizens, strengthening their health and environmental protection.
The growing role of citizens’ gatherings is most clearly reflected in the traditional competition "Mahalla in my destiny" which is organized by the Fund "Mahalla" with the assistance of the ministries, departments and public organizations. It is conducted among the ninth grade students of general education schools, professional colleges and academic lyceums located on the territory of the citizens’ gatherings.
This year 8,614 teams participated in local mahalla, district and city stages of the competition, and this means more than 34 thousand boys and girls.
For example, the Tashkent regional stage of the competition was carried out at a high organizational level in the Palace of Culture "Durmon" in Kibray district. 985 teams of citizens’ assemblies attended in the first stage of the competition which took place in December of the last year, 115 in the district and city stages, only 18 reached the finals.
The members of the jury read the essays of the guys on the theme "Mahalla in my destiny" with great interest. They were full of optimism, enthusiasm and desire to be active participants in changes. They discussed issues of healthy lifestyle, persistent ideological immunity, respect for national values.
Summing up the points scored by participants, the jury has announced the winners - the team of the mahallas "Kattatepalik" of Chinoz district, "Qoraqoyli" of Bekobod district and "Fayziobod" of Pskent district.
— Participation in the competition was not only a school of excellence, but also a platform for the exchange of knowledge, thoughts and ideas for us, - the leader of the winner team J. Muminov said. - We will continue to actively participate in the life of our makhalla, to help others, to respect elders, to value peace.
Teams of 193 citizens’ gatherings -772 students of secondary schools, professional colleges and academic lyceums actively participated in the qualifying stages of the competition in the Sirdarya region. 11 teams met in the final which took place in the Youth Center in the city of Guliston.
— This competition is important in the upbringing the love for the country among the youth, formation of patriotism and loyalty to the ideas of independence and respect for national spiritual and cultural values, - says consultant on the issues of the religious education and moral-spiritual education of citizens’ gathering of the mahalla "Ibrat" in Guliston district U.Rasulov. - We were impressed with the presentation about the history and everyday life of the mahallas, the answers to quizzes, essays.
Members of the jury considered the performance of the team "Oq yol" of the citizens’ gathering of the Sirdarya region as the most interesting one. The second and third places were taken by young experts of mahallas from "Sohil" of the Bayavut district and "Ibrat" of the Guliston district.
13 teams fought for the championship in Bukhara region. To identify the top three was not easy for the members of the jury. They paid special attention to the promotion of mahallas in the employment of graduates of professional colleges, creation of necessary conditions for meaningful leisure-time activities, the effectiveness of the mechanism of cooperation "Family - Mahalla - Educational Institution", "Parent Universities".
First place went to the team of mahalla "Dustlik" from Bukhara region, the second was awarded to rural citizens’ gathering "Aleli" from Jondor district. The trifecta was closed with the team of rural citizens’ gathering "Govshun" from Gijduvan district.
