Manuel Fick: US-Uzbekistan Cooperation in Agricultural Migration opens new horizons for workers

Within the framework of the first Tashkent International Migration Forum on “Socio-Legal Protection of Labour Migrants and Their Family Members” that opened on May 18, Manuel Fick, founder and CEO of the American company “USA Farm Labour”, answered questions from a Dunyo Information Agency correspondent:

 We represent “USA Farm Labour” and are launching a partnership with the government of Uzbekistan to open opportunities for Uzbek citizens to participate in the H-2A agricultural program in the US. We believe this will become a vital opportunity both for American employers facing labour shortages and for citizens of Uzbekistan, who will be able to work in the US, earn an income, improve their living standards, and realize their goals and dreams.

The US holds a leading position in protecting workers’ labour rights. The country has laws and mechanisms in place aimed at ensuring worker safety, preventing exploitation, and combating human trafficking. Therefore, Uzbek citizens coming to the US for seasonal agricultural work for up to ten months, or another designated period, can count on decent working conditions and the necessary protection.

The income that workers can earn in the US will provide significant financial support for their families and help improve their well-being. Beyond the economic benefits, this cooperation will open up opportunities for exchanging experience, knowledge, professional skills, and cultural traditions between the two nations. American employers are also interested in attracting young, energetic, and qualified specialists from Uzbekistan who possess solid professional skills and a good command of the English language, making a valuable contribution to the US seasonal workforce.
