Maqom melodies, its spirit and philosophy took a special place in the hearts

International Forum of Maqom Art in Shakhrisabz has come to an end.

This international art festival was organized in order to develop and bring to the future generations the national maqom art, which is an integral part of the cultural heritage of mankind and its ancient history, deep philosophical roots, unique performing style and rich creative traditions. It has an important place in the spiritual life.

Within the framework of the International Forum, on September 7, Afrosiyob high-speed train started to run on Tashkent – Shakhrisabz – Tashkent route.

About 300 solo artists and musical groups from 73 countries took part in the forum, 30 scientists and musicologists from 19 countries attended the international scientific practical conference, held within the framework of the forum.

On September 10, the awarding ceremony of winners of the International Forum of Maqom Art took place in Oqsaroy Square.

The international jury evaluated the participants’ performances in three nominations: “Best maqom ensemble”, “Best instrumental solo” and “Best vocal solo”.

The third place went to the teams of “Al Gharbi Twins” of Tunisia, “SPCP Japan” of Japan and Sukhonberdi Orazberdiyev from Turkmenistan. The second place was taken by “Nastar” ensemble of Iran and Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan from India.

A soloist of “Hayrati” collective of Azerbaijan Nigor Shabanova and “Sakil” ensemble of Uzbekistan were awarded the first place.

The Grand Prix of the International Forum of Maqom Art was awarded to Tajikistan Maqom Academy.

Winners were awarded cash prizes, special forum diplomas and memorable gifts, and all the foreign guests who participated in the forum – souvenirs and special certificates.

At the ceremony, a concert with participation of art masters and young performers of Uzbekistan was presented, a music and light 3D show was held.
