Correspondent of Information Agency "Jahon" talked to the guest of honor at the X International Music Festival "Sharq taronalari" - the mayor of Jurmala (Latvia) Truksnis Gatis:
— This is my second visit to the beautiful city of Samarkand and the main purpose of the current visit - participation in the X International Music Festival "Sharq taronalari" - he said. - As you know, last year, Jurmala and Samarkand became sister cities. It should be emphasized the huge potential of bilateral cooperation, and we intend to strengthen our close partnership.
One of the main directions of development of tourism is to organize cultural events. In this context, very important for us the experience of Samarkand, in particular in conducting such a grandiose music forum, and that’s why we are here today.
As part of my visit was held productive talks in the city hokimiyat. We discussed various issues of mutual interest, including the organization of meetings of business circles of the two cities. Particular attention was paid to the development of our relations in the field of tourism industry, the exchange of experience for the various festivals, exhibitions and other events aimed at attracting tourists.
Samarkand - one of the oldest and most unique cities in the world, its historical and architectural monuments of the imagination. We are interested in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with the sacred boundary. In my opinion, there are all prerequisites for the development of a successful partnership.
In conclusion I would like to sincerely congratulate the friendly people of Uzbekistan on the anniversary of independence and wish peace, welfare and prosperity.
