According to the IA UzReport, on March 3, the French Ambassador Jacques-Henri Els met with Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Nature Protection Bakhtiyor Abdusamatov.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of participation of Uzbekistan in the 21st Conference on Climate Change (COP21 / Paris 2015) in December 2015, as well as the possibility of organizing a side event on the Aral Sea.
It was noted, that the State Committee together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Centre of Hydrometeorological Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzhydromet) has been actively involved in the preparation of the national contribution of Uzbekistan for COP21.
The sides also discussed the development of ecotourism in Uzbekistan. The Ambassador noted the great potential in the country in this field. Chairman of the State Committee confirmed the importance of this area and informed the Ambassador about the measures taken for the development of this very promising from an economic point of view direction.
