On March 4, 2019, the International Business Center in Tashkent hosted a meeting of Uzbekistan – South Korea Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
The event was attended by heads of ministries, agencies and companies of the two countries responsible for foreign trade, investment, banks and finance, transport, energy, oil and gas, mechanical engineering, chemical, construction, food, textile industry, information technologies and telecommunications, agriculture and water management, science, tourism, medicine.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiyev, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea Yunmo Sung and others noted that relations between the two countries due to effective cooperation in implementation of a number of promising projects are developing in many directions.
Preparations for the visit of the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in to Uzbekistan were discussed at the meeting. The need for enriching cooperation with new content, stimulating dialogue of business community, supporting exchange of inter-territorial delegations was noted.
Special attention was paid to implementation of projects within the framework of agreements signed between governments of the two countries. The need for creating joint centers, where their effective implementation will be carried out, was noted.
Issues of construction of high-speed railways in Uzbekistan, production of environmentally friendly cars, projects on creating tourism infrastructure, smart city, cultivation of export-oriented agricultural products were discussed at the event.
The opening ceremony of Tashkent Business Development Center was held within the framework of the event. The structure formed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the partner country is in Dubai, Sao Paulo, Moscow, Johannesburg and Hanoi. The main task of the center is to develop economy and infrastructure in the country, support business.
