Meeting with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan

On January 25, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Nematov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan Yazguly Mammedov.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the sides summed up the interaction in 2018, emphasizing that the central event of bilateral relations became the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan on April 23-24 and bilateral negotiations in Tashkent.

As it was noted, due to firm political will of the heads of the two states, today Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan relations are developing in the spirit of good-neighborliness and strategic partnership inherent in fraternal countries and people. Thus, trade turnover between the two countries in 2018 increased by almost 70% compared with the previous period and exceeded 302 million USD.

The schedule and agenda of the upcoming joint events in the beginning of the year, including in political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, cultural-humanitarian and other fields were thoroughly discussed at the meeting.
