Meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba

On September 24, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba Ana Teresita Gonzalez Fraga, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit.

The state of bilateral relations was discussed at the meeting. Interest in deepening Uzbekistan – Cuba dialogue in various fields of mutual interest was noted.

It was emphasized that over the past 12 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, a positive experience of cooperation within the framework of the UN and its specialized units have been accumulated with joint efforts, which can be extended to other areas of interaction. As it was noted, despite the geographical distance, Uzbekistan and Cuba are ready to develop economic ties, using the existing high potential and real opportunities of bоth sides.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the meeting, views were exchanged on prospects of expanding tourism, cultural and humanitarian exchanges on a mutually beneficial basis.

On the same day, the first round of inter-MFA political consultations was held.

Ambassador of Cuba Alfredo Nieves Portuondo attended the negotiations.
