Meeting with the Minister of State for External Affairs of India

On September 16, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Minister of State for External Affairs of the Republic of India Mobashar Jawed Akbar, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit.

The main issue on the agenda of the meeting was preparations for the upcoming visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to India and his negotiations with Indian leadership.

As it was noted, the two countries are working together on substantive part of Uzbekistan – India summit. A number of important political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian events are being held.

In this context, Mobashar Jawed Akbar, who attended and addressed the 5th meeting of India – Central Asia dialogue, held in Samarkand on September 13-14, 2018, noted that holding this and other events is of particular importance on the eve of the most important event for bilateral relations.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical cooperation held in August, specific agreements were reached on implementation of a number of promising joint projects based on mutual benefit. A few days ago, Uzbekistan Culture Days were held in India with great success. The sides are preparing for “Made in Uzbekistan” national products exhibition and a joint business forum in New Delhi.

At the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on some issues of international and regional policy.

The Ambassador of India Vinod Kumar attended the meeting.
