Meeting with the Special representative of The UN Secretary-General

On September 15, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, the Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Natalia Gherman, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a working visit.

At the meeting, the sides discussed current issues of cooperation of Uzbekistan with the UN and its agencies, in particular, with UNRCCA.

Special attention was paid to implementation of important international initiatives, forwarded by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in September 2017. As it was noted at this context, the adoption of historically important resolution of the UN General Assembly “Strengthening regional international cooperation to ensure peace, stability and sustainable development in Central Asian region” is a confirmation of broad international support for development of cooperation in Central Asia.

The sides also considered some regional issues.

Views were exchanged on the agenda of “Central Asia: new opportunities and prospects for regional cooperation” international conference, which is planned to be held in 2019 in Tashkent with participation of leading international think tanks.
