The Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with a delegation of the Belgian Parliament headed by Chairman of the House of Representatives Siegfried Bracke.
Representatives of the Belgian delegation have been informed about large-scale socio-political and economic reforms ongoing in our country. They got acquainted with the measures to enhance the role of Parliament in the public and political life and to improve its activities.
Great interest was aroused by the work carried out in the system of self-government, an important link of the civil society of the country. It was noted that Uzbekistan’s experience in this area may be useful for Belgium.
During the meeting the sides thoroughly discussed issues of further strengthening of cooperation of legislative bodies.
— We attach great importance to the development of inter-parliamentary ties with Uzbekistan, - Siegfried Bracke said. - Our country over more than 20 years of cooperation have become reliable partners in trade, economic, humanitarian and political spheres.
The parliamentarians exchanged views on topical issues and prospects of deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belgium. They have identified areas for further cooperation through the exchange of experience in legislative, control and analytical activity.
