Meetings of the U.S. delegation

On April 6, the delegation of the U.S. Department of State led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Randi Berry held talks in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Safayev noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and the USA is consistently developing, the dialogue between the two heads of states gives a new dynamic to the development of bilateral relations.

Cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries is consistently developing. Intensification of bilateral visits at the parliamentary and governmental levels facilitates the exchange of views and experience in political, social and economic spheres.

The U.S. delegation got acquainted with activities of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. The guests were interested in the democratic reforms conducted by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the sphere of reforming the state and society.

During the conversation it was emphasized that inter-parliamentary cooperation is important for strengthening the legal bases of interaction of the two countries and ensuring participation of civil society institutions in public administration. Views were exchanged on intensifying mutual exchange of experience on further deepening democratic reforms.

At the meeting, which has taken place at the Muslims Board of Uzbekistan, activities in the sphere of ensuring freedom of worship and religious beliefs, legitimate interests of citizens irrespective of sex, race, nationality, social origin, as well as activities of the religious organization were considered.

Randi Berry noted that large-scale work carried out in Uzbekistan in the field of improving the places of pilgrimage, taking care of religious traditions and customs, deserves appreciation.
